Birthmonth* celebrations begin with a flare last night. DC Healys gathered for Turkish food with Mike (brother) and Sarah Healy from Worland and minus Tim (cousin) and Susan Healy from Chevy Chase, who had returned from Taiwan a few hours before dinner nearly comatose after the flight.
Meagan shot a video with her phone. You get the picture! Not a forest fire of 75 candles, but a fabulous fountain of sparks.
You can see Ro, 5 months, in that photo, barely, but he’s mostly hidden next to his other grandfather, Scott Flipse, who drove down from State College, PA to help celebrate, and see Mike and Sarah, who were staying with Ro’s parents, Brian Patrick Healy and Rachel Flipse (Healy).
Also in the gathering: Brian Quinn Healy, with Angela and their son, Owen, and Meagan Healy. Owen is bilingual–English and Mandarin–and calls Meagan according to Chinese custom, the word meaning the eldest sister of his father.
Need I mention that the food was Turkish, which I love.
I’ll be celebrating my actual birthday (Oct. 28) in Milwaukee with my eldest nephew, Nathan Hammons, and Jennifer Knight, Beckett, 7, and Harper, 4. We’re going trick o’ treating. I’m going to be a freezing gypsy in a costume. Suspect at $36, the manufacturers skimped on material (and payment to seamstresses. )
*Most of my friends in DC are Scorpios. We celebrate early and long. (“Long” meaning for weeks. 😉
